Festive things to do!

December 18, 2009

Tis the season to go shopping, wrap gifts, go light seeing and many other holiday favorites we wait all year for.  If you are looking for some fun ideas for the whole family I think I may just have a few!

Every year Bull Run Regional Park (festival of lights) puts on a wonderful family oriented atmosphere of lights and rides.  Just of Route 29 in Centreville is where you enter and follow the signs back into the park.  At the gates you will be charged a fee to enter but go to the site below for a $3 of coupon and any and all information you will need regarding the festival.  http://www.nvrpa.org/parks/brfestoflights/ Inside the park you will stay in your vehicle and be asked to turn off your lights, don’t worry the path is very well-lit for your safety.  Along the path you will see all types of lights encompassing all of this great holiday seasons joy (I recommend turning on some Holiday music while you take it all in).

At the very end of the light show you area able to exit the festival or park and enjoy a mini carnival.  There are stone fires pits to warm yourself by, delicious hot coco, apple cider and marshmallows to enjoy by the oversized Christmas trees and mini carnival with rides and food.  It’s a great experience for people of all ages and it’s very reasonable for the whole family or if you can fit a second family in one vehicle in that you area charges per car at the entrance.

Another great idea that will truly put you in the holiday mood is the Christmas on the Potomac at Gaylord National Resort Featuring Ice at the National Harbor off of 495.

You will find a Winter Wonder Land as you make you way in, but keep in mind it is EXTREMELY COLD in order to keep the ice frozen so dress WARM.  The holiday scenes are made from over two million pounds of ice that includes a life-size Santa work shop and a penguin village.  If you are up for a bit of a drive you will NOT be disappointed and while your out there you can catch the gorgeous Christmas Tree just into Washington DC off of Constitution Ave.  For more information on the ICE SHOW go to http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-national/special-events/washington-dc-events/christmas-on-the-potomac/index.html?source=gn-gppc-cid-cotp-ice&s_kwcid=TC|15755|national%20harbor%20ice||S||5083518845

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

December 5, 2009

I often have to try and find ways to be productive with my Real Estate career when I wake up to snowy days such as this one.  I do in fact have a 4wheel drive so there are never any issues getting around although the weekend tends to be a Realtors busiest time and this weather always hinders that a bit.

Today I have taken the time to reconnect with my past clients and friends with Holiday Cards, Starbucks gift certificates and phone calls to make certain my past clients are keeping warm and letting them know of any market updates in their areas and neighborhoods.  One very important offer I like to add when calling my clients is the urgency of a Home Warranty.  With these types of weather conditions who would want to be left out in the cold if their furnace, hot water heater, etc were to malfunction.  Not only would you have to cough up the money for the massive repair bill your sitting in a cold home or unable to take a warm shower to add to your frustration.  Grab an HMS Home Warranty people, it will be the best $400 you spend this year.  The warranty covers you incase anything malfunctions in your house, even the A/C or Heating System for ONLY $100 as a deductable.

The economy is still a painful reality and the holidays are coming, so put a little piece of that paycheck into your future of your home and the weight of costly repair bills will be lifted off your shoulders.  I want each and every one of you to be protected especially in the holiday season.
